Home Automation

Home Automation

To begin to automate your home, you will need to think about installing an intelligent system. This normally consists of a main hub that is programmed to suit your requirements. It can be installed to control anything in your home from the lighting to entertainment systems, heating, appliances, and security and safety features.

These systems can also use remote access so you can dial in when you are away and get a TV programme recorded, or switch the oven or kettle on so it’s ready when you get home.

Depending on your budget, you can have a system like this that controls everything possible or you can have a system for each of the utilities, which you can add to over time.

Automation is about making life in the home easier and safer

For example, it is possible to have all your lighting automated so that when you arrive home the drive lights come on. Then you press a remote to open the garage door, which switches another light on. Once you’ve left your car, the lights show you the way to the front door. By the time you have unlocked it, the lights switch on as you move from room to room. For more information contact or call 0845 862 2134.

Selling Your Home?

Monday, 18 November 2013 15:41:02 Europe/London

When you’re selling a home, you need to get people’s attention and colour-changing lights can do just that. Special light bulbs can change colour to pretty much whatever shade you want including settings that help you relax and wake up. For example, you can program the lights to gradually turn on in the colours of a sunrise—a much more pleasant way to wake up than your alarm clock.

One of the bigger selling points of home automation is its potential to save money on power bills. New automation systems incorporate energy-efficient lights that can be turned on and off remotely. It also lets you control your home’s temperature from a mobile device, letting you program the temperature according to your schedule.

Control 4

Wednesday, 13 November 2013 09:59:07 Europe/London

We often use the phrase "Start small, dream big" to explain that one of the best things about a Control4 home automation system is that you really can start off with just a small piece of the entire puzzle and then build on it from there. For example, you can start off with just a universal remote solution and then in time add lighting and a smart thermostat so that you can control all of that with your initial remote. Or you can start with a security system integration and then down the road add in whole home audio so you can enjoy music in any room of your home.

Home Automation

In one classic episode of "The Simpsons," Homer Simpson is talking to his aged father, Abraham Simpson. Homer states: "I love Rest Homes. You get treated like a baby, only this time you are old enough to enjoy it."

Although Home Automation will not change diapers or even feed you, it can do just about everything else imaginable. Do your plants keep dying? You can set up a Home Automation to water your plants on a set schedule. Keep forgetting to feed the goldfish before you kick off for the night? Yep, Home Automation can do that, too. And are you sick and tired of getting "a knock at the door" at 3:00 am and not knowing who is doing it? Yep, you guessed it. Home Automation can set up video surveillance for that, too.

For all intents and purposes, Home Automation seems to be the future. Even if you can't wire your existing home with the required hardware for Home Automation, wireless options are available. And, although it's in its infancy, Home Automation has even extended to home robots and things of that ilk.
